Stress - ' is a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilise'.
Defined by Richard S Lazarus.
Stress is an adverse response to what an individual perceives as too much pressure. To much of this type of stress isn't good for you as it send the body and mind into an unhealthy state.
We call this state 'Fight or Flight' response, which is a one of response to a perceived challenge or pressure and is not necessarily bad for the individual. It is good to be alerted to possible threats and to prepare to take avoiding action.
However, continually being in this state means that the chemicals within the body associated with fight or flight are then constantly being stimulated and the result is ill health of one type or another.
Stress - is wear and tear of everyday life on a person as they adjust to their environmnet.
Positively - it can make us react, heighten awareness and create excitement. It's what gets you out of bed in the morning and gets you to work on time each day.
Negatively - it can cause distrust, anger, fear and depression. It can also feel as though you have lost control.
There is a set level of stress for us all; we all tolerate different amounts of stress at different times in our lives.
